Hola beautiful people! I am so excited to be back! I thought I would never make it back at one point…
So, yes, I got covid-19 and let me tell you it was not fun! It felt as if I had a bad flu, with a bad sinus infection, and got ran over by a train. No, but really it wasn’t fun and I was ready to start feeling better immediately…
I started with symptoms Monday, which included fever, headache, bodyaches, and fatigue. On Tuesday, I had all that plus cough, nausea, chills, lots of chills and oh so very cold! On Wednesday, my worst day, I lost my sense of smell and taste. That night I also had a hard time breathing. I couldn’t sleep to say the least. It was so scary at one point of the night, I almost woke up my husband to take me to the hospital…
I didn’t have energy to get up and do anything. I just wanted to be in bed and sleep all day but it was really hard to do that when you have all those symptoms.
There were a few things I did to get better and I will share that with you. I hope this will help someone as it helped me so much.
Well, I took Tylenol and Motrin every 4 hours, drank as much water as my body would allow me or nausea I should say. I drank lemon and ginger tea and also a tea my mom gave me which I really do believe helped me feel better faster. The tea includes adding ginger, oregano, garlic, onion, cinnamon, and honey. Yes, I know sounds gross but since I couldn’t smell or taste, I didn’t really care. I just wanted to feel better and at that point I didn’t care what I ate or drank. I also had chicken noodle soup and lots of fruit punch, you know that zero sugar one? Yeah, that one. For some reason, it tasted different and better than anything else. I also boiled some water with Himalayan salt and allowed the vapor to hit my face. I did that 3x’s a day, it really helped with congestion. I promise, if anything, this will open up your nose real quick and allow you to breathe better.
I feel the combination of all of these different remedies helped me feel better. Today, I am on day 7 and I still have no smell or taste but feel so much better. You know I am writing this as we speak.
According to the CDC, schools here are following the same protocol too, I need to isolate for 10 days from the start of my symptoms, so technically I still have three days to go. I don’t understand this though. When I called my son’s school and told them my son had covid and everyone in the house did too, the response was to isolate, I get that but I didn’t get the part where they don’t ask for a negative test before going back to school. So, my oldest son went back to school even when everyone else at the house still has covid. My other son will be going back in a couple of days. I am not sure if I understand this but it does make me question if this is the reason my oldest son picked up covid from school?
Well, I’ll never know…
Anywho, all I know is that covid is very random and will affect people in different ways, regardless of vaccination. I am so ready for it to be over…
If you have had covid or know of someone, I would love to hear your experience! Please leave me a comment!
